課程概述

This yearly course constitutes an attempt to help students develop an enhanced proficiency in the target language, viz., English, through affording them with ample opportunities for the exercises of the four language skills. Namely, students will practice and foster efficient strategies to comprehend and analyze reading passages of varied genres and listening materials on diversified topics. Additionally, they will participate in custom-designed speaking activities that resemble real-life communication events and generate written works of different rhetorical styles to further strengthen their communicative competence. Additionally, they will undertake dubbing projects and digital storytelling projects that could enable them to put into use multiple language skills and cultivate a stronger sense of peer solidarity.

課程目標
Upon completion of this bi-semester course, students can expect to be able to
(1) apply appropriate strategies to aid in the process of comprehending input materials,
(2) verbalize opinions on issues of societal importance and interact with interlocutors with ease,
(3) compose written works that conform to an accepted academic writing style, and
(4) collaborate with fellow students in ways conductive to the effective completion of projects and the development of enhanced peer bonding.

* “Plagiarism is the act of taking another person's writing, conversation, song, or even idea and passing it off as your own. This includes information from web pages, books, songs, television shows, email messages, interviews, articles, artworks or any other medium. Whenever you paraphrase, summarize, or take words, phrases, or sentences from another person's work, it is necessary to indicate the source of the information within your paper using an internal citation. It is not enough to just list the source in a bibliography at the end of your paper. Failing to properly quote, cite or acknowledge someone else's words or ideas with an internal citation is plagiarism”
[The Plagiarism Tutorial (www.lib.usm.edu/legacy/plag/plagiarismtutorial.php)].
** Numerous websites have provided guidelines for citing and quoting sources, such as Purdue Online Writing Lab (owl.english.purdue.edu/), The Writer’s Handbook (writing.wisc.edu/Handbook/QPA_plagiarism.html).
